To run the handheldcleanup.exe tool, complete the following steps:
For BlackBerry Enterprise Server 4.1 through 5.0 SP3
1. From a command prompt, go to C:\Program Files\Research In Motion\BlackBerry Enterprise Server\Utility.
2. Type handheldcleanup <switch> where <switch> is one of the values described in the following tables.
3. A window will appear and prompt for the selection ofa profile. Select the Server profile.
4. Enter in the BlackBerry® Enterprise Server name as it appears in BlackBerry Manager for BlackBerry Enterprise Server 2.1 to 4.1; or the BlackBerry® Administration Service under Servers and Components for BlackBerry Enterprise Server 5.0.
Switches for BlackBerry Enterprise Server 4.1 through 5.0 SP3
| Switch | Description |
| -c | The Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) connect string for the database should be surrounded by double quotation marks. Otherwise, the connect string will be retrieved from the registry. |
| -d | Dumps information for each BlackBerry smartphone. |
| -u | Verifies and updates mailboxes and determines whether any mailboxes have been moved or deleted. If a mailbox has been moved, the mailbox ServerDN is sent to the Global Address List (GAL) ServerDN. Only BlackBerry smartphones with a modified ServerDN are printed. Note: The GAL does not contain hidden mailboxes. |
The handheldcleanup.exe tool must be run when logged in as the BlackBerry® Enterprise Server service account. The most common use of this tool is the handheldcleanup.exe -u switch after a mailbox is moved to resolve GAL lookup issues.
