Email messages are not visible on the BlackBerry® smartphone, but they are confirmed as having been delivered to the BlackBerry smartphone.
- BlackBerry® smartphone
The Messages database on the BlackBerry smartphone is corrupt.
To resolve this issue, complete the following steps:
- Verify that the BlackBerry smartphone is able to receive email messages by sending a test email message to the email account set up using the BlackBerry® Internet Service. Include the <confirm> tag in the subject line of the test email message. If the BlackBerry smartphone receives the email message, a confirmation email message is generated. The confirmation email message will appear similar to the following:
Your message:
TO: testing@email.com
SENT: Tue Jun 19 08:55:00 2007
SUBJECT:<confirm> Test AHas been delivered to the recipient’s BlackBerry Handheld.
- If this confirmation email message is received, but the email message does not appear on the BlackBerry smartphone, perform the following steps:
- Make sure that the date and time are correct on the BlackBerry smartphone.
- If the BlackBerry smartphone is running BlackBerry® Device Software version 4.2 or later, the firewall setting on the BlackBerry smartphone might be set to block incoming email messages from the BlackBerry Internet Service. Perform the following steps:
- From the Home screen of the BlackBerry smartphone, click Options > Security Options > Firewall.
- Make sure the BlackBerry Internet Service check box is clear.
- Use the Delete Prior option to remove the corrupted information from the Messages database. Choose the most recent date available. For instructions on how to use the Delete Prior option, see KB00133.
- If the above settings have been checked, and the Delete Prior option fails to correct the issue, clear the Messages database on the BlackBerry smartphone using the BlackBerry® Desktop Manager. For instructions, see KB10167.
