How to regenerate encryption keys on a BlackBerry smartphone activated on a BlackBerry Enterprise Server

To regenerate an encryption key over the wireless network, complete the following steps:

Note: The Compressed Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions (CMIME) service book must be installed on the BlackBerry smartphone before continuing.

For BlackBerry smartphones running BlackBerry Device Software 4.0 to 4.7:

  1. On the Home screen of the BlackBerry smartphone, click Options > Security Options > General Settings.
  2. Scroll down and select the Desktop entry under Services.
  3. Press the Menu key and click Regenerate Encryption Key.
For BlackBerry smartphones running BlackBerry Device Software 5.0:
  1. On the Home screen of the BlackBerry smartphone, click Options > Security Options > Information.
  2. Scroll down and select the Desktop entry under Services.
  3. Press the Menu key and click Regenerate Encryption Key.
For BlackBerry smartphones running BlackBerry Device Software 6.0 and 7.0:
  1. On the Home screen of the BlackBerry smartphone, click Options > Security > Security Status Information.
  2. Scroll down and select the Desktop entry under Services.
  3. Press the Menu key and click Regenerate Encryption Key.
