CollapseOverview

To migrate the BlackBerry® Enterprise Server from Microsoft® Exchange 2000 or 2003 to Microsoft Exchange 2007, complete the following steps:

Important: Restarting certain BlackBerry Enterprise Server services delays email message delivery to BlackBerry smartphones. For more information, see KB04789.

  1. Set the required permissions for the BlackBerry Enterprise Server service account in Microsoft Exchange 2007. For more information, see KB02276.
  2. Stop all BlackBerry Enterprise Server services.
  3. Move the BlackBerry Enterprise Server service account mailbox to the new Microsoft Exchange Server. The default name for this account is BESAdmin. For more information, see KB03296.
  4. Confirm if the MAPI sub-system must be updated:
    • If the MAPI sub-system installed on the BlackBerry Enterprise Server is the Microsoft Exchange 2003 System Manager, ensure Microsoft Exchange 2003 SP2 has been applied to the BlackBerry Enterprise Server and then skip to step 6.
      Note
: If Microsoft Exchange 2010 will soon be added to the Exchange organization and the MAPI subsystem on the BlackBerry Enterprise Server is currently using Microsoft Exchange 2003 SP2, it is recommended to update the MAPI sub-system to the latest MAPI as this will eliminate the need to update it in the future if it is upgraded to the latest version at this time, proceed to step 5 to upgrade the MAPI sub-system.
    • If the MAPI sub-system is using the Microsoft Exchange 2000 System Manager proceed to step 5.
  5. Update the MAPI sub-system by following KB15779
  6. (Optional - For BlackBerry Enterprise Server 4.1 only) Resolve the MAPI profile for the BlackBerry Manager by going to Start > Programs > BlackBerry Enterprise Server > Edit MAPI Profile using the new Microsoft Exchange 2007.
  7. Resolve the MAPI profile for the BlackBerry Enterprise Server by opening Start > Programs > BlackBerry Enterprise Server > BlackBerry Server Configuration > BlackBerry Server tab > Edit MAPI Profile using the new Microsot Exchange 2007.
  8. Start the BlackBerry Enterprise Server services.
