This article provides information on how to host the BlackBerry® Smart Card Reader drivers locally for deployment over the wireless network or how to install them using the application loader tool.
Local deployment over the wireless network
To install the BlackBerry Smart Card Reader drivers over the wireless network, complete the following steps:
Note: Wireless installation of the Personal Identification Verification (PIV) card drivers is not possible for BlackBerry smartphones running BlackBerry® Device Software 4.0.x. Use the local BlackBerry® Desktop Manager deployment method.
- Download the appropriate BlackBerry Smart Card Reader driver package from the smart card reader drivers page.
- Extract the contents of the .zip file to a directory on your computer.
- Host the selected directory on a web server within your organization and email a direct link to the .jad file for the appropriate BlackBerry Device Software version to the appropriate BlackBerry smartphone users.
Local BlackBerry Desktop Manager deployment
To install the BlackBerry Smart Card Reader drivers using the application loader tool, complete the following steps:
- Download the Locally hosted smart card drivers deployment package from the smart card reader drivers page.
- Extract the contents of the .zip file to a directory on your computer.
- Follow the steps outlined in KB14473 for how to load the BlackBerry smart card reader driver application using the BlackBerry Desktop Software.
