Improved SurePress™ technology (Only available on the BlackBerry® Storm2™ 9520 and 9550 smartphone models)
Improved SurePress™ technology is available on the BlackBerry Storm 2 9520 and 9550 smartphone models. This technology makes use of a powered response to a click action. When the battery is not present in the BlackBerry Storm2 9520 and 9550 smartphone or the power is turned off, the screen does not click when pressed.
Interactive Home Screen
There are two areas on the Home screen of BlackBerry Storm 9500 series smartphones running BlackBerry Device Software version 5.0 that are now interactive. First, when you click the date and time on the Home screen, the Clock application appears. Second, when you click the network status indicator, the Manage Connections application appears.
Face Detection
With the BlackBerry Storm2 9520 and 9550 smartphones, an improved hardware based proximity detector determines when the BlackBerry smartphone is placed near your face. This feature is designed to make the screen controls inaccessible until the BlackBerry smartphone is moved away from your face. The BlackBerry® Storm™ 9500 and 9530 smartphones have a similar software based implementation of this feature which relies on face presence not proximity.
Popup Keys
With the introduction of BlackBerry Device Software version 5.0, the SurePress keyboard displays an indicator of the key that is pressed as you type on the keyboard of the BlackBerry Storm 9500 series smartphone. You can control this feature by going to Options > Screen/Keyboard.
