Product(s) Affected:

  • BlackBerry® Enterprise Server for IBM® Lotus® Domino®
  • BlackBerry® Enterprise Server for Microsoft® Exchange
  • BlackBerry® Enterprise Server for Novell® GroupWise®
CollapseOverview

After the BlackBerry® Enterprise Server 5.0 installation completes, the error Page Not Found or Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage appears when connecting to the BlackBerry Administration Service user interface. However, the BlackBerry Administration Service console might continue to work on the browser of the server that the BlackBerry Administration Service is installed on.

The BlackBerry Administration Service (BAS-AS) log displays the following where x is the Internet Protocol (IP) address, followed by the port number immediately before the service starts:

{main} [org.apache.coyote.http11.Http11Protocol] [INFO] Starting Coyote HTTP/1.1 on http-BES.DOMAIN.COM%2Fx.x.x.x-18180
{main} [org.apache.coyote.http11.Http11Protocol] [INFO] Starting Coyote HTTP/1.1 on http-BES.DOMAIN.COM%2Fx.x.x.x-443
{main} [org.jboss.system.server.Server] [INFO] JBoss (MX MicroKernel) [4.3.0.GA (build: SVNTag=JBPAPP_4_3_0_GA date=200801031548)] Started in 5m:33s:801ms

CollapseCause

When the server hosting the BlackBerry Administration Service has multiple network interface cards (NICs), the BlackBerry Administration Service might bind to the incorrect IP address at startup. Verify this by checking the BAS-AS log lines listed in the Overview. If the IP address listed as x.x.x.x-18180 and x.x.x.x-443 in the preceding example is not the IP address of the BlackBerry Administration Service server, then follow the steps in the Resolution section.

CollapseResolution
  1. Verify the binding order of the network cards and make sure the correct network card (the actual IP address of the BlackBerry Administration Service server) is at the top of the list of adapters.

    For Windows Server® 2003

    1. Right-click My Network Places and select Properties or Control Panel, and then click Network Connections.
    2. Click Advanced, and then click Advanced Settings.
    3. Under the Adapters and Bindings tab, verify that the correct binding order appears under Connections.

    For Windows Server 2008

    1. Right-click Network and click Properties or Control Panel, and then select Network and Sharing Center.
    2. Under Tasks, click Manage Network Connections.
    3. Click Advanced, and then select Advanced Settings.
    4. Under the Adapters and Bindings tab, verify that the correct binding order appears under Connections.

  2. Restart the BlackBerry Administration Service - Native Code Container (BAS-NCC) service. Click OK when the system advises that the BlackBerry Administration Service - Application Server (BAS-AS) will be restarted as well.
  3. After the BlackBerry Administration Services restarts, wait a few minutes then open the newly created BAS-AS log and confirm that the BlackBerry Application Service is now being bound to the IP address of the server which hosts the BlackBerry Adminstration Service.
CollapseWorkaround

If the secondary network adapters are not being used by any other applications or processes, they can be disabled entirely.
