The BlackBerry Instant Messaging 2.5 application suite allows the ability place a dedicated icon on the BlackBerry Home Screen for a specific contact. This capability allows you to quickly access a conversation you are having with a contact and identify their current Instant Messaging status.
This feature is supported by the following applications which are a part of the BlackBerry Instant Messgaing 2.5 application suite.
- Windows Live™ Messenger for BlackBerry® smartphones
- Yahoo!® Messenger for BlackBerry® smartphones
- Google Talk™ for BlackBerry® smartphones
- AOL® Instant Messenger™ service (AIM® service) for BlackBerry® smartphones
Adding a dedicated conservation icon to the BlackBerry smartphone Home Screen
- Sign in to the desired BlackBerry Instant Messaging 2.5 application.
- Highlight the contact you would like to place a dedicated conversation icon on the BlackBerry Home Screen.
- Press the "Menu" key and select the "Show in Home Screen" option.
- A icon will now appear on the BlackBerry Home Screen showing the users current avatar photo and their current status.
To removing a dedicated conservation icon from the BlackBerry smartphone Home Screen
- Highlight the dedicated icon for the contact that was placed on the BlackBerry Home Screen
- Press the "Menu" key and select the "Remove from Home Screen" option.
- BlackBerry Device Software version 4.5 or later
- BlackBerry Instant Messaging Application Suite version 2.5
The location that the dedicated conversation box icon is placed is based on the current BlackBerry Instant Messaging version 2.5 application icon location.
For example, if Yahoo! Messenger for BlackBerry smartphones is installed on the BlackBerry and placed in the "Instant Messaging" folder using the "Show In Home Screen" option will place the dedicated conversation icon in the "Instant Messaging" folder
