When you link a contact with a contact in the contacts application list, BlackBerry® Instant Messaging Application Suite version 2.5 provides the ability to perform additional tasks. For example, during a conversation, with the appropriate information linked, you will be able to call or send an email message to the contact quickly from the menu.
To link a BlackBerry Instant Messaging contact to a contact in your BlackBerry Address book contact list:
1. On the BlackBerry Instant Messaging Application contact list screen, highlight a contact.
2. Press the Menu key.
3. Select Link with BlackBerry Contact
4. Perform one of the following actions:
i. If the contact is already in the Contacts application, click Select Contact. Choose a contact within the Address Book.
ii. If the contact is not yet in the Contacts application, click New Contact. Type the contact information and save it within the Address Book.
5. Press the Menu key and select Save
If you want to remove the link between the BlackBerry Instant Messaging Application and the BlackBerry Address Book complete the following steps.
- On the BlackBerry Instant Messaging Application contact list screen, highlight a contact you wished to unlink.
- Press the Menu key and select Remove Link with BlackBerry Contact
- Select Yes on the next receiving prompt message
- Press the Menu key and select Close to exit out of the BlackBerry Instant Messaging Application
- BlackBerry® Device Software version 4.5 or later
- BlackBerry® Instant Messaging Application Suite version 2.5
