Messages are logged in the BlackBerry­® Monitoring Service console every three minutes with the following attributes:

    Subject: A warning occurred when connecting to the BlackBerry® Administration Service.

    Details: The BlackBerry Monitoring Service has a limited ability to connect to the BlackBerry Administration Service.

    Reason: Only 1 of the 2 resolved addresses for hostname <hostname>.<domain>.com could be contacted.

This issue may be caused by one of the following conditions:

  1. The BlackBerry Monitoring Service has been installed on a server that has two network interface cards (NICs).
  2. The BlackBerry Monitoring Service has been installed on a server that has Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) installed.

This is a previously reported issue that has been escalated internally to our development team. No resolution time frame is currently available.

CollapseWorkaround

Cause 1

The BlackBerry Monitoring Service has been installed on a server that has two network interface cards (NICs).

Workaround 1

Install the BlackBerry Monitoring Service onto a server that does not have more than one NIC.


Cause 2

The BlackBerry Monitoring Service has been installed on a server that has Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) installed.

Workaround 2

Warning: The following procedure involves modifying the computer registry. This can cause substantial damage to the Windows® operating system. Document and back up the registry entries prior to implementing any changes.

Complete the following steps:

  1. Disable IPv6 on the server hosting the BlackBerry Monitoring Service.
  2. Configure the BlackBerry Monitoring Service to use the IPv4 protocol stack:
    1. For a 32-bit Windows Server, go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Apache Software Foundation\Procrun 2.0\BBMonitoringConsole\Parameters\Java
    2. For a 64-bit Windows Server, go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Apache Software Foundation\Procrun 2.0\BBMonitoringConsole\Parameters\Java
  3. Modify the Options value and add the line: Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true
  4. Restart the BlackBerry Monitoring Services.
