How to identify available BlackBerry smartphone activation methods using the BlackBerry Expert Support Center

BlackBerry® administrators can determine whether a BlackBerry® smartphone user is provisioned for use with a BlackBerry® Enterprise Server by using the BlackBerry® Expert Support Center's Enterprise Activation Readiness tool. This tool checks a BlackBerry smartphones provisioning and displays available activation methods, based on which BlackBerry Enterprise Server product is being used.

To access the Enterprise Activation Readiness tool from a computer with Internet access, complete the following steps:

  1. Launch a browser and access the BlackBerry Expert Support Center.
  2. Sign in to the BlackBerry Expert Support Center using the login credentials.
  3. Click Enterprise Activation Readiness.
  4. Specify the Product Type.
  5. Enter the BlackBerry smartphone PIN and Serial Number and click Next >>.
  6. Select the desired method of activation after reviewing the requirements and click Next.
  7. Follow the directions in the tutorial to assist with activating the BlackBerry smartphone.
    • BlackBerry® Web Desktop Manager or BlackBerry® Desktop Manager – An overview of the minimum requirements and steps to activate the BlackBerry smartphone will be displayed with the option to send an email message of these instructions to the end user.

To access the Enterprise Activation Readiness tool from the BlackBerry Administration Service, complete the following steps:

Note: The below steps are for BlackBerry® Enterprise Server Express 5.0 only.

  1. In the BlackBerry Administration Service, expand User.
  2. Click Manage users.
  3. Click the display name of the BlackBerry smartphone user.
  4. Click Specify an activation password or Generate an activation email.
  5. Click BlackBerry Expert Support Center.
  6. Sign in to the BlackBerry Expert Support Center using the login credentials.
  7. Click Enterprise Activation Readiness.
  8. Complete the Enterprise Activation Readiness wizard to identify if the BlackBerry smartphone is provisioned correctly and identify the available BlackBerry smartphone activation methods.
