To make sure that sufficient memory is available on the BlackBerry® smartphone, the BlackBerry App World™ storefront performs a memory check before an application can be purchased or installed. If there is insufficient memory, the following warning message is displayed:

The available application memory on this device is below 5MB. Are you sure you want to proceed with this installation?

Using the My World screen to manage BlackBerry application memory

BlackBerry smartphone users can use the My World screen to manage BlackBerry smartphone memory.  The My World screen can be utilized to archive applications to the BlackBerry device memory or external MicroSD card.  For more information on archiving an application, see KB18809.

The My World screen can also be used to install and uninstall items that they have purchased or downloaded using the BlackBerry App World storefront

To uninstall an application, complete the following steps:

  1. Open BlackBerry App World.
  2. Select My World.
  3. On the My World screen, select the item that you want to uninstall.
  4. Press the Menu key.
  5. Click Uninstall.
  6. Click Yes
  7. If necessary, click Yes or No when prompted to restart the BlackBerry smartphone.

Note: Once an item has been uninstalled, it still appears in the My World list with a status of uninstalled and can be reinstalled.

To reinstall an item, complete the following steps:

  1. On the My World screen, highlight an item marked as uninstalled.
  2. Select Menu key.
  3. Click Reinstall.
