The signal strength indicator on the BlackBerry smartphone appears as either a number or a bar graph. The number represents the signal strength in decibels (dB).

Procedure

To change the signal strength indicator from bars to a numeric value, complete the procedure that corresponds with your BlackBerry smartphone:

  • For a BlackBerry smartphone that has a QWERTY keyboard, press and hold the Alt key and type nmll. To return to the bar graph, press and hold the Alt key and type nmll.
  • For a BlackBerry smartphone that has the SureType® input method, press and hold the Alt key and type nnmll. (There is an extra n because the key is shared with the letter B.) To return to the bar graph, press and hold the Alt key and type nnmll.
