Task 1

To configure a BlackBerry smartphone for wired organizer data synchronization, complete the following steps:

BlackBerry® Device Software 4.0 to 5.0:

  1. On the BlackBerry smartphone, open an organizer data application (for example, the contact list)
  2. Press the Menu key and click Options
  3. Select Default under Contact Lists
  4. Change the Wireless Synchronization option to No
  5. Press the Menu key and click Save
  6. Repeat steps 1 through 4 for each organizer data application that you want to synchronize through a wired connection

BlackBerry 6.0 and BlackBerry 7.1:

  1. On the BlackBerry smartphone, open an organizer data application (for example, the contact list)
  2. Press the Menu key and click Options
  3. Under Contact Lists, select the default contact list used for synchronization
  4. Disable Wireless Synchronization by clicking the check box
  5. Press the Menu key and click Save
  6. Repeat steps 1 through 4 for each organizer data application that you want to synchronize through a wired connection

Task 2

To configure the BlackBerry Desktop Software for wired synchronization, complete the following steps:

For BlackBerry Desktop Manager 4.5 to 5.0 SP1

  1. Connect the BlackBerry smartphone to the computer.
  2. In the BlackBerry Desktop Manager, click Synchronize > Synchronization
  3. Then select Synchronization
  4. In the Intellisync setup window, select the check box beside an organizer application
  5. Click Setup
  6. In the Available desktop applications list, click the organizer application on the computer
  7. Click Next
  8. Select the synchronization directions for the data in the organizer application
  9. Click Next
  10. Select the Messaging Application Programming Interface (MAPI) profile to synchronize with (Microsoft Outlook only)
  11. Click Finish
  12. To set up synchronization for another organizer application, repeat steps 4 to 11

For BlackBerry Desktop Software 6.0 to 6.1

  1. Connect the BlackBerry smartphone to the computer.
  2. In the BlackBerry® Desktop Software, click Organizer > Configure settings
  3. In the Intellisync setup window, select the check box beside an organizer application
  4. Click Setup
  5. In the Available desktop applications list, click the organizer application on the computer
  6. Click Next
  7. Select the synchronization directions you want for the data in your organizer application
  8. Click Next
  9. Select the Messaging Application Programming Interface (MAPI) profile to synchronize with (Microsoft Outlook only)
  10. Click Finish
  11. To set up synchronization for another organizer application, repeat steps 3 to 10

For BlackBerry Desktop Software 7.0 to 7.1

  1. Click on Organizer in the left hand menu in BlackBerry Desktop Software
  2. Under Select Organizer Data to Synchronize, select Configure for each Organizer item: Contacts, Calendar, Tasks, and Memos
  3. In the Configure popup that appears for each Organizer item, select the Sync direction
  4. Select the account to be synchronized
  5. If required, select Advanced Options to set customer filters, field mappings, and folder synchronization options
  6. Select OK
