How to reset the firewall prompt on the BlackBerry smartphone

When a network connection is made by an application on the BlackBerry smartphone, a firewall option prompts the BlackBerry smartphone user to allow or deny the network connection. If the BlackBerry smartphone user would like to turn the prompt on or off, the option must be reset on the BlackBerry smartphone.

To reset the firewall on the BlackBerry smartphone to prompt the BlackBerry smartphone user in every application to allow or deny a network connection, complete the following steps:

  1. On the BlackBerry smartphone, select Options.
  2. Select Security Options.
  3. Select Firewall.
  4. Display the menu and select Reset Settings.
  5. Perform a hard reset on the BlackBerry smartphone. For instructions, see KB02141.

To reset the firewall on the BlackBerry smartphone to prompt the BlackBerry smartphone user (according to the settings of the application in use) to allow or deny a network connection, complete the following steps:

  1. On the BlackBerry smartphone, select Options.
  2. Select Security Options > Application Permissions.
  3. Select the application that you wish to edit the firewall prompt for, display the menu, and select Edit Permissions.
  4. Display the menu and select Reset Firewall Prompts.
  5. Perform a hard reset on the BlackBerry smartphone. For instructions, see KB02141.
