CollapseOverview

The Enterprise Service Policy controls which BlackBerry® smartphones are allowed service on the BlackBerry Enterprise Server. This policy is disabled by default.

Four whitelists, described in the following table, determine whether a BlackBerry smartphone is allowed service. If the Enterprise Service Policy is enabled, any BlackBerry smartphone not on a whitelist is not allowed service on the BlackBerry Enterprise Server.

Whitelist  Description
Personal Identification Numbers (PIN) Specifies the specific PINs that are authorized for BlackBerry Enterprise Server service.
PIN Range Specifies the PIN ranges of the BlackBerry smartphones that are authorized for BlackBerry Enterprise Server service.

Manufacturer Specifies the manufacturer of the BlackBerry smartphones that are authorized for BlackBerry Enterprise Server service.

Model Specifies the models of the BlackBerry smartphones that are authorized for BlackBerry Enterprise Server service.

Whitelist Checking

If the Enterprise Service Policy is enabled, whitelist checking occurs during the following events:

  • The enterprise activation process
  • BlackBerry Enterprise Server startup
  • Whitelist modifications
When an unauthorized BlackBerry smartphone is detected, the PIN is reset to 0 and the BlackBerry smartphone is excluded from service.

Note: If the BlackBerry smartphone meets any of the whitelists, it will allow the activation. For example, if the BlackBerry® Pearl™ 8100 smartphones should not be allowed, use the whitelist for Model. Remove the selection for Manufacturer.
