You receive the following error message when attempting to install BlackBerry Desktop Software:
This installation package could not be opened. Contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer package.
The MSI install file for BlackBerry Desktop Software is corrupt, and must be downloaded again.
To resolve this issue, complete the following steps:
- Delete the BlackBerry Desktop Software installation file.
- Empty the Recycle Bin on the computer.
- Clear the cache for your browser. For instructions, consult your browser documentation or help file.
Download and install the latest version of the BlackBerry Desktop Manager from your carrier's website and attempt the installation process.
It is advisable to empty the Recycle Bin and clear the browser cache after deleting the BlackBerry Desktop Software installation file, as there could still be traces or references to the installation file present in Microsoft Windows.
