Unable to receive instant messages on the BlackBerry Messenger but able to send instant messages

Instant messages can be sent using the BlackBerry Messenger but instant messages cannot be received.


If the screen name you are using in the BlackBerry Messenger is too long, you may not receive messages.


Shorten the display name to 15 characters or fewer.

To remove commas or dashes from the display name, complete the following steps:

  1. From the Contact List screen, open the menu.
  2. Click Edit My Info.
  3. Edit your display name and click OK.
