The BlackBerry device user is unable to restore RMS databases and saved email messages to the BlackBerry device. The following error message is received:
Cannot backup or restore the following database: RMS Databases. The data was not recognized by the device.
The backup process was performed with a BlackBerry device loaded with BlackBerry Device Software 4.1 or later, and is being restored to a BlackBerry device loaded with BlackBerry Device Software 4.0 or earlier. In this situation, the RMS databases cannot be restored.
To resolve this issue, complete the following steps:
- Reload the BlackBerry Device Software 4.1 on the BlackBerry device. For instructions, see KB11320.
- Restore saved information from the backup file. For instructions, see KB03953.
