To enable mass storage mode complete the following steps:
- From the Home screen of the BlackBerry® smartphone, select
BlackBerry® 6 and BlackBerry® 7: Options > Device > Storage
BlackBerry® Device Software 4.5 to 5.0: Options > Media Card or Memory
BlackBerry® Device Software 4.3 and lower: Options > Advanced Options > Media Card
- Enable Media Card Support
BlackBerry 6 and BlackBerry 7: Put a check mark beside Media Card Support.
BlackBerry Device Software 5.0 and lower: Set Media Card Support to On.
- For BlackBerry Device Software 5.0 and lower, set Mass Storage Mode Support to On.
- For BlackBerry Device Software 5.0 and lower, set Auto Enable Mass Storage Mode When Connected to Prompt or Yes.
- Press the Menu key and click Save.
To disable mass storage mode complete the following steps:
- From the Home screen of the BlackBerry smartphone, select
BlackBerry 6 and BlackBerry 7: Options > Device > Storage
BlackBerry Device Software 4.5 to 5.0: Options > Media Card or Memory
BlackBerry Device Software 4.3 and lower: Options > Advanced Options > Media Card
- Set Mass Storage Mode Support to Off.
- Press the Menu key and click Save.

BlackBerry® Desktop Software enables mass storage mode when connected to a BlackBerry smartphone. To disable Start BlackBerry Desktop Software when a device is connected.
- Launch BlackBerry Desktop Software
- Click on Tools
- Click on Desktop Options
- Uncheck the box next to Start BlackBerry Desktop Software when a device is connected
- Click OK
- Exit BlackBerry Desktop Software
