Unable to send photos in MMS messages

The BlackBerry smartphone does not send photos within the Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS) application.

CollapseCause

The picture files being sent may be too large to send via MMS.

CollapseResolution

Reduce the size or quality of the photo and resend:

  • In BlackBerry Device Software 5.0, the resolution and size is selectable upon composing the message.

  • In BlackBerry 6 and BlackBerry 7, an attempt to adjust the size appropriately is automatic.


To access the size and quality options for the Camera prior to taking a picture, complete the following steps:

BlackBerry Device Software 4.2 to 4.7

  1. Open the Camera application.
  2. Click the Menu button.
  3. Select Options.
  4. Change the Image Size and Picture Quality settings as required.
  5. Click the Menu button again and select Save.

BlackBerry Device Software 5.0 to 7.0

  1. Open the Camera application.
  2. Click the Menu button.
  3. Select Options.
  4. Change the Image Size settings as required.
  5. Click the Menu button again and select Save.

Attach the photo and send in an email message.

The maximum size of a MMS message can vary depending on the wireless service provider.
