How to install an application on a BlackBerry smartphone using the BlackBerry Desktop Software

 Complete the following steps to install an application on a BlackBerry smartphone using BlackBerry Desktop Software 4.3 to 5.0 for Windows:

  1. Connect the BlackBerry smartphone to the computer.
  2. Open the BlackBerry Desktop Software - if prompted, enter the device password.
  3. Click Application Loader.
  4. Under Add/Remove Applications, click Start.
  5. Select the the applications that you want to install on the BlackBerry smartphone.

    Note: Upgrade the BlackBerry Device Software from your wireless service provider's software download web site if the following message appears:  

    The BlackBerry Desktop Software does not have BlackBerry Device Software for the device that you have connected to the computer. Contact your wireless service provider or system administrator.

     
  6. Click Next.
  7. Review the applications that you would like to install or remove from your BlackBerry smartphone.
  8. Click Finish to start the application load process.

Using BlackBerry Desktop Software 6.0 to 7.1:

  1. Connect the BlackBerry smartphone to the computer.
  2. Open the BlackBerry Desktop Software - if prompted, enter the device password.
  3. Select Applications on the left hand side.
  4. Click on the + icon next to the desired application (it will turn green to indicate pending installation)
  5. Click on Apply to complete the installation.

For BlackBerry Desktop Software for Mac, complete the following steps:

  1. Connect the BlackBerry smartphone to the computer running BlackBerry Desktop Software for Mac. 
  2. Open the BlackBerry Desktop Software - if prompted, enter the device password.
  3. Click Applications in the tool bar.
  4. Under Install/Remove Applications, select the the applications that you want to install on the BlackBerry smartphone.
  5. Click Start to start the application load process.

To remove an application from the BlackBerry smartphone using BlackBerry Desktop Software, follow the same steps as above, but instead of selecting the application, deselect it. The application will be uninstalled if there is no check mark to the right of the application (Desktop Manager 5.0.1/BlackBerry Desktop Software for Mac).

For BlackBerry Desktop Software 6.0 or later click on the minus sign to uninstall the application.
