  • BlackBerry® Enterprise Server
  • BlackBerry® Administration Service
  • BlackBerry® Web Desktop Manager

The BlackBerry® Administrative Services start and stop, and the following error message is generated:

The BlackBerry Administration Service - AS service on Local Computer started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they do not have work to do, for example, the Performance Logs and Alerts Service.

The following appears in the Application Log for the BAS-AS or BAS-NCC service:

Could not load the Java Virtual Machine.
The specified module could not be found.

The BlackBerry® Java® Virtual Machine (JVM) path in the registry is pointing to an incorrect or incompatible version of Java.

Warning: The following procedure involves modifying the computer registry. This can cause substantial damage to the Windows® operating system. Document and back up the registry entries prior to implementing any changes.

To resolve this issue, make sure following registry keys are pointing to the correct JVM path:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\BAS-AS\Parameters\JVM Library
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\BAS-NCC\Parameters\JVM Library

The correct BlackBerry JVM is found in C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.<X_XX>\bin\client\jvm.dll where X represents the version numbers.
