Appointments created on the BlackBerry smartphone do not synchronize wirelessly with Microsoft® Outlook®. Appointments created in Microsoft Outlook are able to wirelessly synchronize to the BlackBerry smartphone. The following error message might appear in the BlackBerry Messaging Agent log file:
[Microsoft Exchange Server Information Store - [MAPI_E_FAILONPROVIDER(8004011D)]
A Microsoft Exchange 2007 public folder database has either not been created or mounted in the Exchange Management Console.
Create a public folder database on the Microsoft Exchange Server. For more information on creating public folder databases in a Microsoft Exchange 2007 environment, visit the Microsoft Help and Support website.
Note: This resolution will be difficult to undo if the decision is made later to not have public folders in the Microsoft Exchange environment.
Warning: System or database changes could potentially result in irreparable damage. Before to making any system or database changes, it is recommended that a system or database backup is performed.
To work around this issue, complete the following steps:
- Configure the BlackBerry Enterprise Server to connect to the Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 without requiring public folders.
- Open the Registry Editor.
- Locate the following registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows Messaging Subsystem\CDO
In Windows Server® 2008 64 Bit Edition, the registry key is: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Wow6432Node\Software\Microsoft\Windows Messaging Subsystem\CDO
If the CDO entry does not exist, add the key by right-clicking on the Windows Messaging Subsystem key.
- Within the registry key, create a Dword called Ignore No PF and assign it a decimal value of 1.
- Save the changes and then close the Registry Editor.
Important: Restarting certain BlackBerry Enterprise Server services delays email message delivery to BlackBerry smartphones. For more information, see KB04789 .
- Restart the BlackBerry Enterprise Server services.
- Restart BlackBerry Manager (if applicable).
Note: No change is required for Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 or Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 with public folders. If you are using Microsoft Exchange with public folders, and a similar error is present, see KB00886 .
