When attempting to play a video from a web source, the prompt Switch to WAP for streaming media? is received from the BlackBerry® media application. If the switch to WAP is accepted, extra fees or additional charges might apply as this is going through the carrier's network. For more information, please contact the wireless service provider.

For the BlackBerry media application on the BlackBerry® smartphone to display video from a web source, it must support the RTSP (Real Time Streaming Protocol). Currently, only Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) and Wi-Fi® hotspot services support RTSP.

Note: This does not refer to the speed of the connection and that streaming over WAP can be delivered at high speeds over a 3G connection. Media Applications Include YouTube® and 3rd party applications which conduct streaming a video from a web source.

At this time the BlackBerry® Internet Service and the BlackBerry® Mobile Data Services on the BlackBerry® Enterprise Server do not support RTSP.
