How to disable wireless synchronization through creation of an IT policy

To create an IT policy that will stop BlackBerry smartphone users from wirelessly synchronizing all organizer data, including calendar entries and contacts, perform the following steps:

BlackBerry Enterprise Server 4.1

  1. Open BlackBerry Manager.
  2. Select BlackBerry Domain.
  3. Click Edit Properties.
  4. Under Properties select IT Policy.
  5. Select IT Polices under IT Policy Administration and click the ellipse.
  6. Highlight the Default Policy and create a copy by clicking the New Copy button.
  7. Name the policy No Organizer Data.
  8. Select the PIM Synchronization Policy Group.
  9. Set Disable All Wireless Synchronization to True.
  10. Click OK to save the policy and assign it to BlackBerry smartphone users, as needed.

BlackBerry Enterprise Server 5.0

  1. Launch the BlackBerry Administration Service.
  2. Under the BlackBerry Solution Managementmenu on the left side, expand Policy.
  3. Click Manage IT policies.
  4. In the list of IT policies, click the IT policy you wish to modify.
  5. Click Edit IT policy.
  6. Click to expand PIM Synchronization.
  7. Set Disable All Wireless Synchronization to True.
  8. Click Save All.
