CollapseOverview

When the BlackBerry® Desktop Software is used for calendar synchronization, past calendar events are deleted from the calendar application on the computer.

CollapseCause

Calendar items on the BlackBerry® Smartphone were deleted as a result of setting Keep appointments in the calendar to delete older appointments.

CollapseResolution

To resolve this issue, complete the following steps:

Task 1

Configure the BlackBerry Smartphone to keep past appointments:

  1. Open the Calendar application on the smartphone and press the Menu key.
  2. Select Options and then General Options/Calendar Display and Actions.
  3. Within General Calendar Options, set the Keep Appointments option to Forever.

Task 2

Configure BlackBerry Desktop Software calendar synchronization options:

For BlackBerry Desktop Software 6.0

  1. Connect the BlackBerry Smartphone to the computer with a USB cable and open BlackBerry Desktop Software.
  2. Select Organizer from the main menu.
  3. Click the Configure Settings button.
  4. Select Calendar.
  5. Select the application to be synchronized with and click Next.
  6. Select either the Two way or One way sync and click Next.
  7. For the Calendar date range, select the option to Synchronize items within a range of days, configure the date range to sync 30 days in the past and 365 days in the future.
  8. Click Next.
  9. Continue through the configuration wizard, click Finish, and then click OK.
  10. Perform a new synchronization.

For BlackBerry Desktop Manager 4.6 to 5.0

  1. Connect the BlackBerry Smartphone to the computer with a USB cable and open BlackBerry Desktop Manager.
  2. Select Synchronize from the main menu of BlackBerry Desktop Manager.
  3. Select the Synchronization link and click the button labeled Synchronization to configure the synchronization settings on the smartphone.
  4. Select the Calendar.
  5. Select the application to be synchronized with and click Next.
  6. Select either the Two way or One way sync and click Next.
  7. Select the Default profile for Microsoft Outlook.
  8. For the calendar date range, select the option to Synchronize items within a range of days, configure the date range to sync 30 days in the past and 365 days in the future.
  9. Click Next.
  10. Continue through the configuration wizard, click Finish, and then click OK.
  11. Perform a new synchronization.

If the BlackBerry Desktop Software still prompts to make deletions from the synchronization application for past calendar events that were not manually deleted, the above steps may need to be repeated and synchronize with a smaller date range for past events.

For BlackBerry Desktop Software 2.3 (Mac OS)

  1. Connect the BlackBerry Smartphone to the Mac with a USB cable and open BlackBerry Desktop Software.
  2. Select Calendar.
  3. Select Two-Way.
  4. Select All Calendars or Selected Calendar, checkmark calendars to use during synchronization.
  5. Select Advanced Settings.
  6. For the calendar date range, select the option to Only events, configure the date range to sync 30 days prior and 365 days after.
  7. Click Sync.
