The option for separate SMS and Email inboxes is missing from the Options menu in the messages application. This is by design. In BlackBerry Device Software 5.0, this option was removed and replaced with the Main Message List Settings option that is available in the Options menu of the messages application. The Main Message List Settings option permits a BlackBerry smartphone user to decide which email message services, SMS text messages, and MMS messages appear in the message list.

In later versions of BlackBerry Device Software 5.0, this feature is referred to as Inbox Settings.
