How to search for unread messages on the BlackBerry smartphone

To perform a search of messages on the BlackBerry® smartphone to display the unread messages, please use the process below.

Device software 4.5 to 5.0:

1. Open the Messages application.
2. Press the Menu key.
3. Select Search.
4. To search a specific folder then scroll to the Folder option.
5. Press the trackball or trackpad.
6. Select the desired folder.
7. Scroll to the Show option.
8. Press the trackball or trackpad.
9. Select Unopened Only.
10. Scroll to the Type option.
11. Press the trackball or trackpad.
12. Select the desired message type.
13. Press the Menu key.
14. Select Search.

Device software 6.0 to 7.1:

1. Open the Messages application.
2. Press the Menu key.
3. Select Search By.
4. Select Advanced.
5. To search within a specific email account, change Service to desired email account.
6. To search within a certain folder, select Folder and navigate to desired folder.
7. Scroll down to Show and select Unopened Only.
8. To search specific message types, select Type and select desired type.
9. Hit the Menu key and select Search or scroll down to the Search button.

The unread messages of the selected message type will be displayed.
