- Facebook® for BlackBerry® smartphones 1.9.1 to 3.1
When attempting to use Nearby Places in Facebook® for BlackBerry® smartphones, the error message Your location is temporarily not available appears and a location cannot be shared.
Make sure the following steps are followed to prevent this error message:
Step 1: Compatible BlackBerry smartphone
Verify the BlackBerry smartphone supports location based services by visiting http://docs.blackberry.com
Step 2: Verify that Location Services is enabled
- From the homescreen, select the Universal Search icon
- Type Location Services
- Select Options
- Select Location Settings
- Ensure Location Data is set to Enabled

Step 3: Validate that your have sufficient GPS or Cell site service.
Move to a location with a better cell reception and when attempting to obtain a GPS location, being outdoors will provide the best results.
If the BlackBerry smartphone user is already located outdoors in an open area, the following may be occuring:
- A temporary issue affecting GPS. Try again in a better location using GPS.
- The BlackBerry may not be able to get a cell site location.
- The wireless provider does not support cell site location service
- Wireless service is not available in your current location
Note : If all the above fails there could be a lack of information about the cell site location ID in Research In Motion's cell site database. Research In Motion® is continually updating this information. Please continue to check Places as more cell sites are added daily.
