The BlackBerry® smartphone user may experience high battery drain rates after installing Microsoft® Office Communicator with a large contact list.

Microsoft Office Communicator while on the BlackBerry smartphone causes presence polling to occur.  Polling to a large contact list will cause excessive CPU utilization and an increased use of battery.  If a BlackBerry smartphone user experiences this remove old Microsoft Office Communicator contacts that may no longer be with the company, or decrease the number of Microsoft Office Communicator contacts.

Note:  During testing this behavior has been noticed when contact lists exceeded 100 Microsoft Office Communicator users.
