How to change the BlackBerry ID password

If you know your current BlackBerry ID password and would like to change it, use the steps below for your specific device.

If you have forgotten your BlackBerry ID password, see KB28685.

On the BlackBerry 10 smartphone:

  1. On the home screen, swipe down and tap Settings > BlackBerry ID > Change Password.
  2. Enter the current password, a new password, and confirm the new password once more, then tap Submit.
  3. A confirmation message is displayed. Tap OK.

On the BlackBerry smartphone running BlackBerry 6 or 7:

  1. From the home screen, complete one of the following:
    • On BlackBerry 7, select Options > Device > BlackBerry ID.
    • On BlackBerry 6, select Options > Third Party Applications > BlackBerry ID.
  2. Next to BlackBerry ID Password, select Change.
  3. Enter the current password, a new password, and confirm the new password once more, then select OK.
  4. A confirmation message is displayed. Click OK.

On the BlackBerry Playbook tablet:

  1. At the top-right of the screen, tap the Options icon (gear).
  2. On the left, tap BlackBerry ID.
  3. Next to Change Password, tap the Edit button.
  4. Enter the current password, a new password, and confirm the new password once more, then tap Submit.
  5. A confirmation message is displayed. Click OK.

On the Android device, iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Windows Phone:

  1. Open BBM.
  2. Tap the More button (3 dots) on the bottom-right.
  3. Tap Settings > General.
  4. Tap on your email address.
  5. Enter your password and tap Sign In.
  6. Tap Change Password.
  7. Enter the current password, a new password, and confirm the new password once more, then tap Save.
  8. A confirmation message is displayed. Tap Done.

From a web browser on any device or computer:

  1. Visit http://www.blackberry.com/blackberryid.
  2. Under Already have a BlackBerry ID?, click Sign in.
  3. Enter your current username and password and click Sign In.
  4. Next to Password, click Edit.
  5. Enter the current password, a new password, and confirm the new password once more, then click Save.
  6. A confirmation message is displayed. Click Done.
