To deploy BlackBerry Smart Card Reader Software over the air using a software configuration from a BlackBerry Enterprise Server, complete the following steps:
Download the latest software for the BlackBerry Smart Card Reader from http://us.blackberry.com/business/topics/security/government.html
- Click on Download the latest software for your BlackBerry Smart Card Reader
- From the drop down choose BlackBerry Smart Card Reader v1
- Click Next
- Click Download (either [Multilang] or [English] 1.5.1 MR #6
- Complete the information fields
- Click Next
- Agree to the Download Agreement
- Click Next
- Agree to the License Agreement
- Click Submit
- Click Download
- Save the file to the appropriate location
- Double-click on the installation file to install the software to a local computer (this can be uninstalled after the software has extracted the needed files)
- Accept the defaults when installing and change the destination folder if you would like. (this is a 32bit application so it will need to be installed into the program files (x86) directory if this is changed.
- Browse to (drive):\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files (for installation on 64bit computers you will need to navigate to (drive):\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files
- In the Loader Files folder there are 2 separate folders, BT-version numbers and SCR-version number. For Over The Air Software pushes from the BlackBerry Enterprise Server you only need the BT-version number folder
- Copy the BT-version number directory to your software configuration repository
- Follow the steps listed in KB03748
Repeat steps for v2.0 Smart Card Reader. For step 2. the drop down you will choose BlackBerry Smart Card Reader v2(update September 28, 2010).
