Administrators can configure the BlackBerry® Mobile Voice System (MVS) server and BlackBerry® Enterprise Server (BES) to restrict the BlackBerry® smartphone to use only the BlackBerry MVS work line when using the cellular network. This will prevent the BlackBerry® user from using the cellular line to place or receive any mobile calls that are not routed through the corporate PBX. The settings outlined in this article has no impact on MVS Wi-Fi® calling.

Configure a BES IT policy within the Firewall settings, to restrict all incoming cellular calls except from the MVS PBX Caller Identification number for PBX initiated calling (ANI), while restricting all outgoing cellular calls except to the Direct-Inward-Dial (DIDs) assigned to the MVS Session Managers for BlackBerry initiated calling.

  1. Locate and record the ANI configured for the Telephony connector of the MVS user(s).
    1. In the MVS Console, expand Telephony Connectors located in the left-hand System Configuration menu.
    2. Click Manage.
    3. Select the Telephony Connector used by the MVS user(s).
    4. Record all numbers listed under Caller Identification Number.

    4. Add the letter r followed by a semicolon at the end of the list to ensure all other incoming mobile cellular calls are blocked.
    5. The following is an example of a configuration with the ANI number 5555551111: 5555551111;r;
    6. In the Restrict Outgoing Cellular Calls field, add each DID number recorded from step 2. Each DID in the list will be separated with a semicolon.
