After upgrading the BlackBerry® PlayBook™ Tablet OS and then restarting the BlackBerry® PlayBook™ tablet, the battery drains faster than normal or the battery level fluctuates irregularly.

Cause 1

In BlackBerry PlayBook Tablet OS updates, There are typically battery parameters being updated.

Cause 2

The Video Chat application's User Agreement has not been accepted.

CollapseResolution

Faster than normal battery drain due to Video Chat User Agreement not being accepted has been resolved as of BlackBerry PlayBook OS 1.0.5. For how to update the PlayBook software, refer to KB26152.

CollapseWorkaround

Workaround 1

The BlackBerry PlayBook battery can be retrained by fully discharging and fully recharging the battery several times for this change to take full effect.

Workaround 2

On the BlackBerry PlayBook, launch the Video Chat application and accept the User Agreement.

CollapseAdditional Information
To fully charge the BlackBerry PlayBook, make sure the charging (lightning bolt) icon is no longer displayed in the status bar before disconnecting the power source.
