On the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet, complete the following steps:
- Connect the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet to the computer.
- Tap Options > Tap About > Tap Network.
The USB IPv4 is the IP address of the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet when connected to the USB port on a computer.
On a Windows XP to Windows 7 operating system (OS), complete the following steps:
- Connect the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet to the computer.
- On the computer, click Start > Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt. (Note: For Windows Vista® and Windows® 7, right-click and run as Administrator.)
- Type ipconfig /all
Note: The BlackBerry PlayBook will shows as an Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection with a description of Research In Motion Network Device. The IP address of the BlackBerry PlayBook will be listed as the DHCP server.
Note: Once the USB IP address is obtained, access the BlackBerry PlayBook by placing that IP address in the run menu. This can be performed by entering in the following: \\169.254.x.x. The first two numbers will always be static, it is the last two that will always change each time the tablet is connected. This will allow access then to the media and certs volumes on the tablet. This is useful when the BlackBerry PlayBook will not mount as a network device.
On a Macintosh operating system (OS), complete the following steps:
- From the Apple menu (at the top-left of the main screen), click on System Preferences.
- In System Preferences, double-click on Network within the Internet & Network section.
- Click on the PlayBook connection listed in the Network connections and click on the Advanced...button at the bottom-right of the window.
- The IP Address will be listed as IPv4 Address.
