Facebook icon is missing from the BlackBerry smartphone after upgrading the Facebook application

After upgrading the Facebook for BlackBerry smartphones application using BlackBerry App World storefront, the application icon is missing from the BlackBerry smartphone.
CollapseCause
A problem is encountered during the installation process that prevents the BlackBerry smartphone from fully overwriting the pre-existing Facebook for BlackBerry smartphones application.

This is a previously reported issue that has been escalated internally to our development team. No resolution time frame is currently available.

CollapseWorkaround

To workaround this issue, remove the old version of Facebook for BlackBerry smartphones then install the latest version of Facebook for BlackBerry smartphones from BlackBerry App World.

Delete Facebook for BlackBerry smartphones in BlackBerry Device Software 5.0.

  1. Click Options from home screen.
  2. Click Applications.
  3. Select Add-on from the menu in the top right corner.
  4. Click Facebook from the list of applications.
  5. Click the Delete button.
  6. Select Yes when prompted to reboot the handheld.

Delete Facebook for BlackBerry smartphones in BlackBerry 6.

  1. Click Options from the home screen.
  2. Click Device.
  3. Click Application Management.
  4. Scroll down and click Facebook.
  5. Click the Delete button.
  6. Select Yes when prompted to reboot the handheld.

Reinstall Facebook for BlackBerry smartphones for BlackBerry smartphones 2.0 from BlackBerry App World.

  1. Launch App World and log into My World.
  2. Locate Facebook in the list of uninstalled applications and click to open.
  3. Click Reinstall button.
  4. Select Yes when prompted to reboot the handheld.

Facebook for BlackBerry smartphones icon will now be visible on the home screen or in the Applications, Downloads or Social Networking folder.
