To determine if a USB connected BlackBerry smartphone is detected by a Windows computer perform the following:
1. Open Windows Device Manager
For Windows 2000 and XP
- On the Desktop, right-click My Computer and select Properties.
- Click the Hardware tab, then click Device Manager.
Note: You must be logged on as an administrator to perform these steps.
- Click Start and click Control Panel.
- Click System and Maintenance. Click Device Manager.
- If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
For Windows 7
Note: You must be logged on as an administrator to perform these steps.
- Click Start and click Control Panel.
- Click System and Security.
- Click System.
- Click Device Manager.
2. The device will appear in one of two locations:
- Expand BlackBerry and confirm BlackBerry Smartphone is present
Or
- Expand Universal Serial Bus controllers and confirm BlackBerry Device is listed
