How to reset the BlackBerry ID password if it has been forgotten

If you have forgotten your BlackBerry ID password and would like to reset it, use the steps below.

If you know your password you can just change your BlackBerry ID password

Initiate the password reset email from the BlackBerry smartphone:

  1. From the home screen, complete one of the following:
    • On BlackBerry 10 OS: swipe down and tap Settings > BlackBerry ID.
    • On BlackBerry 7, select Options > Device > BlackBerry ID.
    • On BlackBerry 6, select Options > Third Party Applications > BlackBerry ID.
  2. Complete one of the following steps:
    • From the BlackBerry ID login screen, select Forgot Password, Enter the BlackBerry ID username, select OK, enter the answer to the password recovery question and select OK.
    • If already logged in and the BlackBerry ID login screen is not displayed, select Change Password, then Forgot Password, enter the answer to the password recovery question and select OK.
  3. An email is sent to the email account used as the BlackBerry ID Username. Didn’t get the email?
  4. Follow the steps below to Complete the password reset process

Initiate the password reset from a web browser on any device or computer:

  1. Under Already have a BlackBerry ID? click Reset your password.
  2. Enter your current username and the verification code shown in the CAPTCHA image and click Submit.
  3. If prompted to answer the password recovery question, enter your answer, and click OK to send the email. Why do I need to answer this question?
    An email is sent to the email account used as the BlackBerry ID Username. Didn’t get the email?
  4. Follow the steps below to Complete the password reset process

Warning: If you are prompted with a Reset BlackBerry ID Account link, please be advised that clicking this link initiates a process to delete the BlackBerry ID account and all associated information, such as BBM contacts and purchases made through BlackBerry World.

Complete the password reset process:

  1. Access the email inbox of the associated email account. Open the email from donotreply@blackberry.com or bbidpw-donotreply@blackberry.com with Subject: How to change your BlackBerry ID password. In the message body, click Change your BlackBerry® ID password.
  2. When the password reset page loads, enter the answer to the password recovery question, a new password, and confirm the new password once more, then click Submit.
    Note: Confirmed BlackBerry ID accounts do not need to enter the Password Recovery Answer. Confirm your BlackBerry ID here
  3. When completed Your password has been successfully changed is displayed.

If you cannot answer the password recovery question or cannot access the email inbox associated with your BlackBerry ID, you will not be able to sign in or regain access to this BlackBerry ID account. The only option is to reset the BlackBerry ID account and create a new one.
