If you have forgotten your BlackBerry ID password and would like to reset it, use the steps below.

If you know your BlackBerry ID password and would like to change it, see KB26361.

On the BlackBerry smartphone:

  1. From the home screen, complete one of the following:
    • On BlackBerry 10 OS: swipe down and tap Settings > BlackBerry ID.
    • On BlackBerry 7, select Options > Device > BlackBerry ID.
    • On BlackBerry 6, select Options > Third Party Applications > BlackBerry ID.
  2. On the BlackBerry ID login screen, select Forgot Password. If the BlackBerry ID login screen is not displayed, select Change Password, then Forgot Password.
  3. Enter the answer to the password recovery question and select OK. An email is sent to the email account used as the BlackBerry ID Username.
Note: If the password reset email is not received, see KB28232.
  4. Access the email inbox of the associated email account. Open the email from donotreply@blackberry.com or bbidpw-donotreply@blackberry.com with Subject: How to change your BlackBerry ID password. In the message body, click Change your BlackBerry® ID password.
  5. When the password reset page loads, enter a new password and confirm it once more, then click Submit.
  6. A confirmation message is displayed.

From a web browser on any device or computer:

  1. Visit http://www.blackberry.com/blackberryid.
  2. Under Already have a BlackBerry ID?, click Reset your password.
  3. Enter your current username and the verification code shown in the CAPTCHA image and click Submit.
  4. If your account is confirmed, you will see a message that an email has been sent to your email account. If your account is not confirmed, you may be prompted to answer the password recovery question. Enter your answer, and click OK. An email is sent to the email account used as the BlackBerry ID Username.
Warning: If you are prompted with a Reset BlackBerry ID Account link, please be advised that clicking this link initiates a process to delete the BlackBerry ID account and all associated information, such as BBM contacts and purchases made through BlackBerry World. For more information on deleting the BBID account on BlackBerry devices, see KB36188 and for Android, iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, and Windows Phone, see KB35103.
  5. Open the email from bbidpw-donotreply@blackberry.com with Subject: How to change your BlackBerry ID password, and click Change your BlackBerry® ID password.
Note: If the password reset email is not received, see KB28232.
  6. When the password reset page loads, enter the answer to the password recovery question, a new password, and confirm the new password once more, then click Submit
  7. A confirmation message is displayed.

If you cannot answer the password recovery question or cannot access the email inbox associated with your BlackBerry ID, you will not be able to sign in or regain access to this BlackBerry ID account. For information on creating a new BlackBerry ID account, see KB24062.
