BlackBerry® smartphones may experience high CPU usage or battery drain when the following NFC related IT Policies are applied:
NFC Features is set to Disallow
Allow NFC Tag Reader/Writer Mode is set to No
Allow NFC Peer to Peer Device Communication Mode is set to No
Allow NFC Card Emulation Mode is set to No
On the BlackBerry Enterprise Server, set the following NFC related IT policies to:
NFC Features to Allow
Allow NFC Tag Reader/Writer Mode to Yes
Allow NFC Peer to Peer Device Communication Mode to Yes
Allow NFC Card Emulation Mode to Yes
To view the current CPU usage of a BlackBerry 7 smartphone, go to the Application Management screen:
- Go to Options > Device > Application Management
- Scroll left or right to view CPU usage
- select the + at the top of this screen to expand total usage
Note:
To be implemented by IT policy, NFC (Near Field Communication) IT Policy rule definitions have to be imported to the BlackBerry Enterprise Server to be used with BlackBerry Devices with NFC capability. For more information regarding importing IT policy rule definitions into the BlackBerry Enterprise Server please refer to KB28284
