"Uncaught exception: java lang error" is displayed when upgrading from BlackBerry App World 1.0 and 1.1

When attempting to upgrade BlackBerry App World 1.0 or 1.1 to the latest version, the following error is displayed:

Uncaught exception: 
java.lang.Error

CollapseCause

This is a previously reported issue that is being investigated by our development team. No resolution time frame is currently available.

CollapseWorkaround

To work around the error, complete the following:

  1. Uninstall BlackBerry App World from the smartphone
    • Highlight BlackBerry App World on the home screen
    • Click the Menu key and select Delete
    • If prompted, select to restart the device
  2. Reinstall BlackBerry App World
    • From the smartphone:
    • From a PC/Mac:
      • Goto www.blackberry.com/appworld from a browser on a PC or Mac
      • Log into the BlackBerry App World webstore with the smartphones BlackBerry ID
      • Connect the smartphone to initiate the install process (Complete the install of additional web components first, if prompted)
