Article ID: KB31302

Type: Support Content

Last Modified: 10-01-2012

Product(s) Affected:

  • BlackBerry Internet Service
  • BlackBerry Internet Service

When attempting to add a Post Office Protocol (POP) or Internet Message Access Protocol (IMAP) email address to a BlackBerry smartphone that has an associated BlackBerry Internet Service account, the integration is unsuccessful.

This issue can be caused by one of the following reasons:

  1. The credentials for the email address are incorrect.
  2. An advanced integration may be necessary by using the mail server information obtained from the Email Account Validation Tool (EAVT).
  3. The firewall requirements for the BlackBerry Internet Service are not met.

Cause 1

The credentials for the email address are incorrect.

Resolution 1

Verify the email address credentials by using the EAVT tool.

Cause 2

An advanced integration may be necessary by using the mail server information obtained from the Email Account Validation Tool (EAVT).

Resolution 2

Perform an advanced integration. For more information on how to perform an advanced integration, see KB10154.

Cause 3

The firewall requirements for the BlackBerry Internet Service are not met.

Resolution 3

Ensure that the firewall requirements for BlackBerry Internet Service are met in the email environment as per KB11036.
