Unable to edit or create new contacts on the BlackBerry Address Book

After updating one or all of the instant messaging clients (Yahoo! Messenger for BlackBerry smartphones, Windows Live Messenger for BlackBerry smartphones) to version, contacts cannot be created or edited when opening the Address Book application.

When adding a contact, the following error may appear on the BlackBerry smartphone:

"Uncaught exception: application net_rim_bb_phone_app(79) is not responding; process terminated."

Upgrade to Yahoo Messenger for BlackBerry smartphones or Windows Live Messenger for BlackBerry smartphones version from either the BlackBerry App World™ storefront from a computer or the BlackBerry App World client on the smartphone.
