When syncing Contacts to Windows Contacts in Desktop Software for Windows an error is displayed "Error opening data store accessor object"

When attempting to sync the BlackBerry smartphone contacts with Windows Contacts an error is displayed

"Error opening data store accessor object".

CollapseCause

This is caused by moving the Windows Contacts from the standard location of C:\Users\<USERNAME>\Contacts to a non-standard location.

CollapseResolution

This is a previously reported issue that is being investigated by our development team. No resolution time frame is currently available.

CollapseWorkaround

Change the location of the Windows Contacts back to the default location

  1. Right-click on the Windows Contacts folder
  2. Click on Location
  3. Click on Restore Default
  4. Select Apply
  5. Choose Yes when prompted to create the folder in C:\Users\<USERNAME>\Contacts
  6. Choose Yes when prompted to move the files into the new location
CollapseAdditional Information

Creating a shortcut to the Windows Contacts will restore the functionality desired by moving the folder's location.
