Product(s) Affected:

  • BlackBerry 7 OS and earlier
  • BlackBerry Desktop Software for Windows
CollapseEnvironment
  • BlackBerry Desktop Software 7.1
  • BlackBerry Device Software 5.0
  • Microsoft Outlook
CollapseOverview
When the BlackBerry smartphone and Microsoft Outlook calendars are synced via BlackBerry Desktop Software no information is moved from the BlackBerry smartphone to Microsoft Outlook, but any information in the Microsoft Outlook calendar is moved to the BlackBerry smartphone calendar.
CollapseCause
This is due to the BlackBerry smartphone having multiple calendars and each time an entry is added to the BlackBerry smartphone calendar it is being added to a calendar that is not the default sync calendar.
CollapseResolution
  1. Open the BlackBerry smartphone calendar.
  2. Press the BlackBerry (menu) button.
  3. Select New Appointment.
  4. Check the default calendar listed in the New Appointment window at the top.
  5. Exit the calendar.
  6. Navigate to Options > Advanced Options > Default Service.
  7. Check the Calendar entry. Change it to the Calendar that was list under the New Appointment.
Once these steps have been complete perform a two way sync in BlackBerry Desktop Software and the information should now transfer in both directions.
CollapseAdditional Information
Because of the change to the default calendar on the BlackBerry, the information in Microsoft Outlook may sync across again as it is now going to a new calendar.
