When attempting to update the BlackBerry smartphone with the battery removed using the BlackBerry Desktop Software, the following error is displayed during the Reconnecting to JVM process:

Application Loader was unable to connect with your device. Please re-connect your device, enter the password, if required, and click retry.

To proceed with the installation, complete the following steps:

  1. Disconnect the smartphone from the computer.
  2. Insert the battery on the smartphone.
  3. Connect the smartphone to the computer with the USB cable.
  4. Click Retry.
