How to backup and restore data on the BlackBerry 10 smartphone using BlackBerry Link

To backup data on the BlackBerry 10 smartphone, complete the following:

  1. Open BlackBerry Link.
  2. Connect the device to the computer using the USB cable.
  3. At the side of the screen, select the device.
  4. Click Back Up & Restore.
  5. Click Back Up Device.

Note: Specific data to back up can be customized using the Custom Backup option.

To restore a backup file to the BlackBerry 10 smartphone, complete the following:

  1. Open BlackBerry Link.
  2. Connect the device to the computer using the USB cable.
  3. At the side of the screen, select the device.
  4. Click Back Up & Restore.
  5. Click Restore Device.
  6. Complete one of the following:
    • To restore all of the data in a backup file to the device: 
      1. Select the backup file.
    • To restore specific data in a backup file to the device:
      1. Select the backup file.
      2. Clear the Restore all data check box.
      3. Select the check box beside one or more databases to restore.
    • To restore data from a backup file that is not listed:
      1. Click the Change Folder icon
      2. Navigate to the backup file
      3. Click OK.
  7. Click Restore.

Note: Only backup files created from devices running BlackBerry Device Software 5.0 and later can be restored to the BlackBerry 10 smartphone.
