BlackBerry Administration Service session timeout and extended session timeout

The session timeout for the BlackBerry Administration Service is the time of inactivity that causes the BlackBerry Administrator user to get logged off. Once this occurs, the user will see a screen telling them that they must log in again.

Extended session timeout defines the time out value for a subset operations called long-running ActiveX operation, that may be require longer to get completed. Extended session timeout was introduced in BlackBerry Device Service 6.2.

All of the following operations are considered long-running:

  • Backup
  • Factory Wipe
  • Activation
  • Restore

The timeout and extended timeout are valid for both BlackBerry Administration Service console and Web Desktop Manager console.

The default values for session and extended session are 15 and 75 minutes respectively; the possible range for a standard session timeout is 5-75 minutes and for the extended timeout, 75-240 minutes.
