Screen shot taken on the BlackBerry 10 smartphone cannot be found in the Pictures app

Article ID: KB33788

Last Modified: 07-25-2013

Product(s) Affected:

  • BlackBerry 10 OS
  • BlackBerry 10 OS
  • BlackBerry Device Service
  • BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10

On a BlackBerry 10 smartphone that is activated on the BlackBerry Device Service or BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10, if a screen shot is taken when the work space is unlocked, the image is saved to the work space and therefore cannot be found in the Pictures app in the personal space.

Note: The image cannot be transferred from the work space to the personal space.

This behaviour is by design.

When the work space is unlocked, secure work information may be captured in the screen shot, and therefore the image is secured in the work space.

To save a screen shot to the personal space, lock the work space before capturing the screen shot.

To lock the work space on the BlackBerry 10 smartphone:

  1. Swipe down from the top and tap the white briefcase icon beside Balance Unlocked.

The icon will turn blue and a lock will appear on the bottom-right of the briefcase icon. Also the word Unlocked will no longer be displayed.

Note: To unlock the work space, perform the same step above, however, the work space password will be required. Once the password is entered correctly, the work space is unlocked.

CollapseAdditional Information

To take a screen shot, navigate to the desired screen and press both the up (+) and down (-) volume keys simultaneously (located on the right hand side of smartphone). If done correctly, a snapshot sound will be heard.

After successfully taking a screen shot, if connecting the BlackBerry 10 smartphone to a computer via USB to retrieve the file, the screen shot will be located within the Camera folder.
