BBM messages are not received in BBM for Android

At times, it may seem that BBM messages are delayed on Android devices.
CollapseCause
The BBM Connected Icon setting has been turned  Off.

Enable the BBM Connected Icon setting in BBM for Android using the following steps:

  1. Open BBM for Android. 
  2. Tap the action menu  button (3 vertical dots).
  3. Tap Settings.
  4. Set the BBM Connected Icon switch to the On position.
  5. Tap the Back button to save the change.

The following settings may also need to be reviewed if the Android device is not able to receive data:

Confirm that Background Data is allowed:

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Tap Data Usage.
  3. Press the Menu button.
  4. Ensure that Background Data is not restricted.

Confirm that Wi-Fi is configured to remain on during Sleep mode:

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Tap Wi-Fi.
  3. Press the Menu button.
  4. Tap Advanced.
  5. Ensure that Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep is enabled.

If the Android smartphone connects to Wi-Fi networks that do not have an open connection to the Internet, ensure that the Android smartphone is checking for Internet Service:

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Tap Wi-Fi.
  3. Press the Menu button.
  4. Tap Advanced.
  5. Ensure that Check for Internet service is enabled.

At times, the Wi-Fi connection used by the Android device may need to be reset. To do this, complete the following steps:

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Set the Wi-Fi switch to the Off position.
  3. Set the Wi-Fi switch to the On position.
